Maryland Alcoholic Beverage and Licensing Attorneys
MR&R’s alcoholic beverage licensing attorneys have over 90 years of combined experience in representing hotels, bars, clubs, liquor stores and restaurants in the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan areas in a broad range of alcoholic beverage licensing, compliance and other regulatory matters. Our clientele ranges from local, family-owned sole proprietorships to publicly traded national chains.
We are well known in the community for representing our clients’ licensing and regulatory needs before the alcoholic beverage licensing authorities in the District of Columbia and Virginia, throughout Maryland (including 17 counties and the cities of Baltimore and Annapolis), before the Maryland Comptroller, and the circuit and appellate courts in Maryland regarding wholesale and retail sales, distribution, manufacture and importation of alcoholic beverages, and the licenses and legal challenges thereto.
In addition to alcoholic beverage licensing, we routinely assist our clients in the formation and structuring of their business entities, the acquisition of other necessary permits and business licenses, the drafting and negotiation of lease and purchase agreements and related escrow and closing services. We also assist clients in becoming state lottery agents and authorized check cashing businesses. For our clients who perform check cashing and other money service business (MSB) activities, we routinely conduct independent audits pertaining to their anti-money laundering policies to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act and other post - 9/11 compliance requirements.
